FAIRFIELD, Conn. – The Fairfield University swimming and diving teams travel to Boston, Massachusetts on Friday for the Terrier Invitational. The competition runs from Friday to Sunday and will be the final test for the Stags in 2015.
Fairfield will be competing against eight different schools this weekend, Boston University, the host, along with Army, Bridgeport, Boston College, UMass, Colgate, Soka, and Vermont.
Last season, both teams finished fifth at the Terrier Invitational in a field that included Boston University, UMass, Boston College, and Army. But this season, against an expanded field they hope to see improvement.
The men's team has compiled a 1-4 record this fall with a win over MAAC opponent Monmouth. Several Stags have already posted times this season that rank in the program's Top-10. Justin Touve in the 500y freestyle, Andrew Gormley in the 100y and 200y backstroke, Connor Daly in the 200y breaststroke, Evan Gorman in the 200y butterfly, and Daniel Pires in the one and three meter dives.
The women's team posted a 2-3 record this fall with wins over Monmouth and Holy Cross. Donna Lam recorded a Top-10 time in the 100y butterfly and Jane Rice posted Top-10 scores in the one and three meter dives.
Fairfield will not compete again until January 16, 2016 at Saint Francis College in Brooklyn, New York. During their off time the team will spend 10 days in Honolulu, Hawaii for their annual Training Trip.
