Women's Lacrosse Travels to Monmouth Wednesday

FAIRFIELD, Conn. - The Fairfield University women's lacrosse team continues Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) play on the road as the Stags travel to Monmouth on Wednesday, April 23. The game is set for 3pm.

Fairfield (10-4; 5-1 MAAC) vs. Monmouth (7-8; 4-2 MAAC): The Stags are 6-5 all-time against the Hawks since 1997. Last season, Fairfield defeated Monmouth, 14-7, in their 2013 season opener on February 16. In that contest, senior captains Addie Reilly and Melanie Raso led the Stags to victory. Reilly had five goals and four assists for a nine-point effort while Raso had a hat trick and two assists for a five-point game.

Scouting the Hawks: Monmouth split last week's games and is coming off a 16-9 loss to Canisius on April 19. Junior Allison Stathius and senior Stephanie Anderson are tied as the Hawks' leading scorers this season with 22 goals apiece. Danielle Rakowitz has 20 goals while Cassie Campasano is next with 15. Junior goalie Katie Donohoe has recorded 115 saves, earning a save percentage of .453.

Last Time Out: Fairfield was last in action on April 19 when it fell MAAC foe Marist, 13-6, on Lessing Field for Senior Day. Senior Jenna Slowey netted three goals for the Stags, who also received goals from senior Melanie Raso, junior Jamie Leone, and rookie Riley Hellstein.

National Notice: Entering the week, the Stags are among the national statistical leaders in several categories. Sophomore goalie Chelsey Sidaras is ranked fifth in goals against average (6.99) and 20th in save percentage (0.466) while junior defender Meghan Reda is tied for 18th in caused turnovers per game (1.79). As a team, Fairfield is ranked sixth in scoring defense (7-14) and 16th in caused turnovers per game (9.79). The Stags are also tied for 19th overall in win percentage (.714) and are 22nd in scoring margin (3.86).

Looking Ahead: The Stags will continue conference play on the road. Fairfield will stop at Canisius on April 26 before returning to Buffalo, N.Y. for the 2014 MAAC Tournament semifinal game on May 2.
