Sharissa Ryan Earns MAAC & ECAC Weekly Honors

Women's Tennis Falls to Stony Brook, 4-0

STONY BROOK, N.Y. -- The Fairfield University women's tennis team fell to Stony Brook, 4-0, this afternoon at the University Courts.

At No. 2 doubles, Allison Radde and Kaila Nelson were edged by Stony Brook's Polina Movchan and Cassandra Dix, 8-2, while Carolina Koladzyn and Karen McKeough fell, 8-1, to Nadia Smergut and Becky Shtilkind, in the No. 3 spot. At No. 1 doubles, Sharissa Ryan and Victoria Pirrello were trailing Jackie AltanSarnai and Louise Badoche, 4-3, when the match was called. 

In the No. 3 spot, Koladzyn was downed by the Seawolves' Smergut, 6-1, 6-0. Nelson was clipped by Stony Brook's Dix, 6-0, 6-1, at No. 4 singles while McKeough fell, 6-1, 6-0, to the Seawolves' Lisa Setyon in the No. 6 spot.

At No. 1 singles, Ryan was trailing Movchan, 6-1, 3-0, when the match was called. In the No. 2 spot, Radde was battling AltanSarnai, 6-2, 4-0, and Pirrello was behind the Seawolves' Shtilkind, 6-1, 2-1, in the No. 5 spot. Both matches were left unfinished.

Fairfield (11-9; 7-1 MAAC) will return to action at the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Tournament. The 2014 MAAC Tournament will be held on April 26-27 in West Windsor, N.J.
