Women's Tennis Falls 6-1 to Quinnipiac

Women's Tennis Blanks Manhattan 7-0

FAIRFIELD, Conn. – The Fairfield University women's tennis team posted their fourth straight victory by downing Manhattan College, 7-0, on a bright and sunny afternoon at the Walsh Athletic Center Tennis Courts. The Stags improve to 8-7 on the season and 5-1 in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC).

Fairfield set the tone by sweeping doubles. Allison Radde and Kaila Nelson got things started with an 8-2 victory over Alyssa Rosello and Cat Clark at the third spot. Sharissa Ryan and Victoria Pirrello sealed the point with an 8-1 win at No. 2 doubles. Monica Yajima and Carolina Koladzyn rounded out doubles play with an 8-3 victory over Brianna Turano and Gabby Leon at the top spot.

In singles play, Radde posted Fairfield's first individual win of the day with a 6-1, 6-0 decision over Brickette at No. 3 singles. Pirrello downed Clark, 6-1, 6-0, at No. 6 singles while Koladzyn secured Fairfield's victory with a 6-2, 6-1 win over Pizano at No. 4 singles.

Ryan, the reigning ECAC and MAAC Player of the Week, topped Leon, 6-3, 6-1, at No. 3 singles. Yajima bounced back from a second-set setback to defeat Turano, 6-4, 2-6, 10-4, at No. 1 singles. At the fifth spot, Nelson outlasted Rosello, 6-2, 6-4.

Fairfield returns to action on Saturday, April 12 when it heads to Siena College for a 12pm match.
