Women's Tennis Closes Out Fall Season with NJIT Invitational

Women's Tennis Defeats Lafayette, 6-1

STAMFORD, Conn. – The Fairfield University women's tennis team defeated Lafayette, 6-1, last night at the Stamford Indoor Tennis Club.

At No. 1 singles, Monica Yajima defeated the Leopards' Caroline Nixon, 6-0, 6-2. In the No. 2 spot, Sharissa Ryan downed Lafayette's Rocine Moschella, 6-1, 6-0. Allison Radde edged Catherine Senopoulos, 7-5, 6-0, in the No. 3 spot, while Kaila Nelson defeated the Leopards' Tori Almeida 6-3, 6-3, in the No. 4 spot. Rounding out singles play for Fairfield in the No. 5 spot was Victoria Pirrello who defeated Lauren Tracy, 6-3, 6-1. The Stags only gave up one point at No. 6 singles, where Lafayette's Amanda Kusnierz edged Emma Samson, 8-3.

In doubles play, Fairfield duo Yajima and Carolina Koladzyn defeated Lafayette's duo Caroline Nixon and Catherine Senopoulos, 8-5. In the No. 2 spot, Ryan and Pirrello clipped the Leopards' Moschella and Almeida, 8-5. At No. 3 doubles, Fairfield's Radde and Nelson were leading Lafayette's Tracy and Kusnierz, 7-5, when the match was called.
 
Fairfield (4-4) returns to action on March 20, when the Stags host Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) foe Quinnipiac at the Walsh Athletic Center Tennis Courts at 3pm.
