Women?s Tennis Opens Spring Season on Saturday

Women's Tennis Falls to LIU Brooklyn, 4-0

STAMFORD, Conn. -- The Fairfield University women's tennis team fell to LIU Brooklyn, 4-0, yesterday evening at the Stamford Indoor Tennis Club.

In the No. 3 spot, Allison Radde was downed by the Blackbirds' Marine Dans, 6-0, 6-2. Karen McKeough was clipped by LIU Brooklyn's Nancy Zonneveld, 6-1, 6-1, at No. 5 singles while Stephanie Ziegler fell, 6-2, 6-0, to the Blackbirds' Brittany Thompson in the six spot.

At No. 1 singles, Monica Yajima was ahead of LIU Brooklyn's Sanne Louwers, 6-3, 4-1, when the match was called. In the No. 2 spot, Sharissa Ryan was leading Lisa Maas, 6-3, 0-3, and Kaila Nelson was ahead of the Blackbirds' Isabella Wagener, 6-4, 3-0, in the No. 4 spot. Both matches were left unfinished.

At No. 2 doubles, Radde/Nelson were edged by LIU Brooklyn's Wagener/Yegoreychenko, 8-5, while McKeough/Samson also fell 8-5 to Dans/Zonneveld, in the No. 3 spot. At No. 1 doubles, Yajima/Ryan were ahead of Louwers/Maas, 5-4, when the match was called. 

Fairfield (4-7) will continue action on the road. The Stags will stop at Marist on April 1 before traveling to Niagara on April 5.
