Women's Tennis Heads to the ITA Regionals This Weekend

FAIRFIELD, Conn. – The Fairfield University women's tennis team will be traveling to New Haven, Conn. to compete in the ITA Regionals on October 17-21.  

Fairfield at the ITA Regional: The Stags were last at the ITA Regional in the fall of 2013 where only two seniors competed for Fairfield. At the ITA Regional in 2012, Allison Radde and teammate Ryan fell to Drexel's Zeynep Mafa and Marcela Rosales. 

Last Time Out: A duo from the Fairfield women's tennis team was last in action on October 3-5 when the pair competed at the USTA BJK NTC Women's College Invitational. Rookies Nicole Aragones and Sarah Stuhlmann fell to UConn's Srna Stosljevic/Zaina Zaki, 8-2, before being edged by UT Arlington's Astrid Gehre/Augustina Serio, 8-2, in the round of 16. In Flight A singles, Stuhlmann defeated NJIT's Carolina Zanotta, 6-1, 6-4, before falling to Anna Morozova, 6-2, 6-2, from St. John's. In the round of 16, Stuhlmann was defeated, 6-1, 6-1, by Charleston Southern's Yvonne Hubler. In Flight B singles, Aragones defeated Fordham's Sarah Ali, 6-1, 6-3, before falling to Harvard's Ellen Jang-Milsten, 6-0, 6-0. In the round of 16, Aragones was defeated, 6-2, 6-1 by UT Arlington's Gehre.

Looking Ahead: The women's tennis team will open Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) play on the road. The Stags will head to Lawrenceville, N.J. to take on Rider on October 22 at 2pm. The dual match will be the final fall competition for the Stags.
