Women's Tennis Sweeps La Salle, 6-0

PHILADELPHIA, Pa. – The Fairfield University women's tennis team swept La Salle University this afternoon on the Belfield Courts of Philadelphia, Pa.  The Stags improve to 5-6 overall and remain 2-0 in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference as they head into their next MAAC matchup tomorrow afternoon against Loyola Md. at 10AM.
 
The day started with duos Yajima/Koladzyn and Pirrello/Jackson breezing by their opponents, 8-2 and 8-1, respectively.  Yajima and Koladzyn extend their winning streak as a pair to three matches with their victory over Smith/Coelho in the one spot.
 
In singles play, the Stags nearly took every match without giving up a game.  At No. 1 singles, Monica Yajima defeated Kiara Smith, 6-0, 6-0.  Meanwhile, in the three, four and five spots, Carolina Koladzyn, Victoria Pirrello, and Maggie McLaughlin, each had the same outcome.  At No. 2 singles, Sharissa Ryan defeated Caitlin Coelho in two straight sets, 6-4, 6-1.
 
The Stags (5-6, 2-0 MAAC) will continue their weekend of play on the road in Baltimore, Md. to face Loyola Md. who is currently fourth in the standings with an 11-2 overall record, having gone 2-1 in conference play.
