Women's Tennis Falls 4-1 in MAAC Championship

WEST WINDSOR, N.J. – The women's tennis team fell in the 2013 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Championship match this morning, 4-1, to Marist College. 
 
The Stags started the day strong by capturing the doubles point.  At No. 1 doubles, Monica Yajima and Carolina Koladzyn took over the match early against Karly Pang and Joana Sun 8-6.  Fairfield clinched the point with a victory at third singles.  Duo Maggie McLaughlin and Victoria Pirrello edged Campbell/Eastman, 8-5.  With the point secured, Sharissa Ryan and Allison Radde did not finish their match tied at seven apiece against Raynor and Tahir.
 
Fairfield was unable to pick up a win in singles play, dropping at one, three, four and six.  Marielle Campbell of the Red Foxes picked up a victory in two sets over Koladzyn, 6-0, 6-3, followed by Kelsey Raynor edging Yajima, 6-3, 6-2.  Rounding out the day for the Stags was Radde dropping to Joana Sun and Nikki Jackson falling to Sabrina Tahir, each in two.
 
The Fairfield women's tennis team finishes the 2012-13 season with an overall record of 11-9, a MAAC Player of the Year, and numerous spots on the All-MAAC First, Second, and All-Academic teams.
