ALBANY, N.Y. – The Fairfield women's tennis team dropped to Albany last night, 5-2.  Junior Monica Yajima was undefeated on the day garnering victories at both No. 1 singles and No. 1 doubles.

Albany clinched the doubles point to start the day with wins in the two and three spots against Stag duos Radde/Ryan and Jackson/Samson.  The lone Fairfield pair to come away with a doubles win was Yajima/Pirrell who took on Lopez/Santos, 8-7 (6).

The Stags then dropped the first two singles points in the two and three spots.  Sharissa Ryan fell to Rocio Lopez, 6-1, 6-while Allison Radde came up short against Irene Santos, 6-3, 6-2.  Yajima came back from a lost first set to earn the team's first point.  In the one spot, the junior co-captain defeated Mireille Hermans, 4-6, 6-4, 6-0.  Albany clinched the match with their win at No. 4 singles over Victoria Pirrello, 6-1, 6-1 and to finish the day Nikki Jackson dropped to Sarah Iannone, 8-5, while Emma Samson beat Francine White, 8-3.

The Fairfield women's tennis team will next take on MAAC opponent Saint Peter's on February 23 in Jersey City, N.J. at 1:30pm.
