NEW BRITAIN, Conn. - The Fairfield University divers had a good showing at the CCSU Diving Invitational this afternoon where they competed against Bryant University and host Blue Devils. The Stags posted first place finishes in the women's 3-meter, men's 3-meter, and men's 1-meter events.
On the women's side, junior
Ashlee Steinberger posted a first place finish with a final score of 232.90 on the 3-meter. Steinberger was the runner-up with a score of 212.35 on the 1-meter. Junior
Lauren Kemple placed third on the 3-meter with a score of 212.20. Kemple also recorded fifth place finish on the 1-meter with a score of 193.55. Rookie
Caroline Gailius posted a 137.05 on the 3-meter, placing sixth, and a preliminary score of 165.35 on the 1-meter event. Freshman
Leah Pawelczyk had a preliminary score of 152.85 on the 3-meter and a final score of 165.95 on the 1-meter, placing sixth for the Stags.
On the men's side, Fairfield recorded the top three spots in both the 1-meter and 3-meter events. Freshman
Daniel Pires captured first place finishes in both the 1-meter and 3-meter diving events. Pires recorded a final score of 245.20 on the 3-meter and a final score of 235.90 on the 1-meter. Locking a second place finish in both events was junior
Evan Barr with a score of 218.40 on the 3-meter and a score of 216.25 on the 1-meter. Placing third was senior
Brien Bates. Bates posted a 156.55 on the 3-meter and a 180.45 on the 1-meter.
The Fairfield swimming & diving team will return to action on November 9 to host MAAC opponent Marist at 1pm at the RecPlex Pool.
