The Fairfield University women's golf team opened its spring campaign with a sixth place finish at the Lonnie Barton Invitational at The Club at Savannah Harbor in Savannah, Ga. The Stags shot 348-337 in the 36-hole event to finish with a team score of 685
Emma Ritzmann was the Stags top finisher, tying for eighth, as she carded a two-day +21 score of 165. She shot the team's best round of the tournament on Tuesday, 79, to move up six spots following her opening round 86. Megan Feeney was next for the Stags with a +23, 167, goo for a 10th place tie.
Elly Lemons moved up eight spots in the final round to finish in 21st place with a +28 score of 172. Katherine Rockwell shot a 181 to finish 35th and Kathryn Heffernan was 37th with a two-day score of 184.
Long Island University won the tournament with a team score of 647 and the Blackbirds Cristina Santamaria shot +11 to capture the individual title.
The Stags are back in action March 18-20 in Williamsburg, Va. at the C&F Bank Invitational at Kingsmill Resort.
