PALM SPRINGS, Calif. – The Fairfield women's tennis team opened up play in Palm Springs with a 2-5 loss to the Gonzaga University Bulldogs (6-2). 

In the top singles spot, sophomore co-captain Monica Yajima defeated Prue Teitzel in a three set battle 6-4, 5-7, 10-8.  Co-captain Sharissa Ryan earned the only other Fairfield victory for the day, in a three set match as well.  After dropping the first set, Ryan came back strong and defeated her opponent 0-6, 6-1, 6-4.

The Stags (6-2) will match up next against Fairleigh Dickinson on Thursday.
