WORCESTER, Mass. –
The Fairfield University men's swimming and diving teams notched their first victory of the season this afternoon by topping the College of the Holy Cross 165-132.

Freshman Connor Daly made a splash in his collegiate debut recording three individual events. Daly captured the 200y fly (1:57.67), the 100y fly (53.58), and the 200y IM (2:01.82). Daly's times in the butterfly events were just over a second off the program record.
 
Sophomore Tyler Conley posted two individual victories and one relay win. Conley captured the 50y free in 21.92 seconds, just .86 off the school record, and the 100y free in 50.06. He was also the anchor of the 400y freestyle relay which recorded a winning time of 3:22.09.
 
Junior Cody Parker, who was also on the 400y freestyle relay, won two individual events, capturing the 200y free with a personal best of 1:48.80 and the 500y free (4:57.15). Junior Kevin Greener was the runner-up in the 500y free (4:59.52) and captured the 1000y free (10:18.63).
 
In the 100y back, senior Paul Bimmler was the runner-up in 57.30 seconds while sophomore Chris Weaver finished third in 58.70 seconds. In the 200y back, Bimmer finished second (2:07.55) while Weaver was third (2:11.36). Bimmler was also the lead leg of the winning 400y freestyle relay and the lead leg of the second-place 400y medley relay.
 
Sophomore Jay Cook had a pair of second place finishes in the 100y free (51.15) and the 200y free (1:53.93) and was on the winning 400y freestyle relay.
 
The 400y medley relay of Bimmler, junior Rich Straub, Daly, and Conley had a time of 3:41.75 to place second. In the 400y freestyle relay, rookies Nick Cannone, Andrew Robinson, and Shane Sullivan along with Straub had a time of 3:27.68 to finish second.
               
Sophomore Evan Barr won the 3-meter with a score of 227.32 while sophomore Joe Dowling was the runner-up with a score of 205.80. Senior Ryan Krebs notched a score of 187.57 while junior Brien Bates had a mark of 148.27. On the 1-meter, Krebs took second with a score of 211.33 while Bates was third with a mark of 205.71. Dowling had a score of 199.27 while Barr finished with a score of 190.05.
 
Fairfield (1-1) returns to action next weekend when it hosts MAAC foe Manhattan College on October 20 at 12pm in the RecPlex.
