Fairfield continues Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) competition on Saturday, January 28 when it hosts Iona College at 1pm in the RecPlex. After the meet, there will be a Friends of Fairfield Swimming & Diving reception at The Levee.

Gaels Corner: This is the last dual meet of the season for the Gaels. The Iona women have split their last two meets, falling to Fordham on January 20 before topping Saint Peter's on January 24. The Iona men have dropped the last two falling to both Fordham and Saint Peter's.
Last Time Out: Fairfield was last in action on a snowy January 21 at the RecPlex where it fell to Rider University. The men's team fell 194.5-91.5 while the women's team fell 178-110.Senior
Michelle Yoshida won three individual events for the Stags.
Suzy Lawlor captured the 100m breaststroke and placed second in the 200m breaststroke.
Cacky Keating placed second in the 100m butterfly. On the men's side, the 200m freestyle relay of junior

Brendan Sarpu, and freshman
Tyler Conley set a program record with a time of 1:37.49 which earned them first place points. On the boards,
Lauren Kemple recorded a pair of personal bests, earning first place points on the 1-meter and second place points on the 3-meter.
Ashlee Steinberger earned first place points on the 3-meter with a score of 220.73 and second place points on the 1-meter with a score of 194.63. Junior
Ryan Krebs finished third on both boards while
Will Sullivan had a pair of personal bests.
MAAC Swimmer of the Week: Senior
Michelle Yoshida was named the MAAC Female Swimmer of the Week on January 24 after posting three individual victories against Rider University. Yoshida opened the second half of her final season with the Stags on January 21 by winning three individual events and helping a Fairfield relay to a second place finish against the Broncs at the RecPlex. Yoshida started the day by capturing the 100m backstroke (1:05.38). Yoshida then posted a win in the 50m freestyle (27.57). Yoshida finished the day by winning the 100m freestyle (1:00.75). Yoshida also swam the lead leg of the second-place 200m medley relay which posted a time of 2:04.82
Looking Ahead: Fairfield's final meet before MAAC Championships will be on February 4 as NJIT visits the RecPlex at 1pm. Prior to the meet, the Stags will honor their Senior Class. The 2012 MAAC Championships will be held February 16-18 at Erie Community College in Buffalo, N.Y.
