Women's Golf Takes Second At MAAC Championships

LAKE BUENA VISTA, Fl. – The Fairfield University women's golf team shot their best round as a team today in the third and final round of the 2011 MAAC Championships on Disney's Magnolia Golf Course. The Stags improved their second round team score by 10 finishing the day with a 319, for a 56-hole total of 969. Siena sat atop the leader board the entire weekend after shooting a 318, 313, and 321 on the three rounds for a tournament best 952.

Kristen Macdonald remained consistent for the third day in a row shaving two strokes off her second-round score with a 77 for a team best 232 total. Macdonald shot a 76, and 79 on the first two rounds and finished the championships in second place overall. Christina DeStefano and Elise Lemons both finished tied for sixth overall with a 246 three-day total. DeStefano shot an 82, 85, and a 79 today, while Lemons shot an 80, 85, and an 81 on the third round. Annie Sperandio shot an 83, 81, and 86 to place tenth overall with a 250 total. Rounding out the scoring for the Stags was Claire Rothschild who improved each round, finishing the day with an 82, and a 253 three-day total. Rothschild finished the weekend with a 12th place finish.
