FAIRFIELD, Conn. – The Fairfield University women's golf team will compete in the 2011 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Championships held at Disney's Magnolia Golf Course in Lake Buena Vista, Fl. this weekend.
Last season, the women's team was the runner-up behind MAAC rival Siena College. So far this season, the Stags are second in the conference behind the Saints. The University of Hartford is third followed by University of Albany, Boston University, and Niagara University.
The Stags head into the championships finishing second in the last two events. After topping CCSU in a dual match over spring break, the Stags placed second at both the Hartford Women's Invitational, as well as the Lady Blue Devil Shoot Out. Senior
Kristen Macdonald has paced the Stags this spring and leads with a 776 MAAC ranking, good enough for third overall in the conference. Macdonald was honored for her play as the MAAC's Golfer Of The Month for March, her second monthly honor of her career. She enters the weekend with a team best 79.37 scoring average.
Championship play opens with a 7:50 tee time, with the Stags beginning at 8:40am on April 29. For the latest information about the event, visit
