FLUSHING, N.Y. – The second-seeded Fairfield University men's tennis team fell to top-seeded Marist College in their fourth-consecutive MAAC Championship final at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center.

Fairfield was victorious in just one doubles match on the day against the defending MAAC Champions. Dan Sauter paired with Bjorn Merinder to defeat Will Reznek and Lorenzo Rossi, 8-5, in the third doubles spot. Landon Greene and Nicolas Pisecky edged Joe Michalisin and Erik Kremheller in a close 8-6 match in the top spot, while Matt Himmelsbach and Joris Van Eck topped Rob Ferrante and Dennis Zlobinsky, 8-4, in the No. 2 spot.

In singles play, Michalisin fell to Rossi, 6-3, 6-3, at the No. 1 spot, while Sauter was defeated by Van Eck 6-3, 6-1 at No. 2 singles. At No. 3 singles, Kremheller fell to Pisecky, 6-2, 6-4, and Zlobinsky was unable to hold off Himmelsbach, 6-2, 6-3 at fourth singles. At the No. 6 spot, Reznek was victorious over Reece Breault, 6-0, 6-1. Ferrante and Greene were at 6-1, 4-3, at fifth singles before the match was decided.

The Stags finish the season 13-9 overall, and second in the MAAC for the fourth consecutive season. Seniors Mark Kremheller and Rob Ferrante leave their mark on and off the court, and have seen much success over their careers at Fairfield. Kremheller earned 28 wins for the Stags, while Ferrante will leave with 127 combined victories.
