Fairfield began the day by taking the doubles point from Siena. At first doubles,
Joe Michalisin and
Erik Kremheller teamed up to defeat Mike Amico and Peter Collins, 8-3. At second doubles, senior
Rob Ferrante paired with freshman
Dennis Zlobinsky to top Jarrett Siwiec and Dylan Roberts, 8-5.
Dan Sauter and senior
Mark Kremheller finished out doubles play by taking care of Joe Holm and Andrew Whyte in the No. 3 doubles position, 8-3.
In singles, the Stags took all six matches against the Saints. Michalisin defeated Mike Amico 6-4, 6-3, at first singles, while at second singles, Sauter defeated Jarrett Siwiec, 6-2, 6-1. Michalisin improved to 4-1 in conference play. At the third spot,
Erik Kremheller moved to an undefeated 5-0 in conference action, with his victory over Peter Collins, 6-1, 6 -3. At fourth singles, Zlobinsky was victorious over Dylan Roberts, 6-1, 6-3. In the fifth spot, Ferrante, playing in his final home match of his career, downed Rob Cooperman, 6-4, 6-4, while
Reece Breault rounded out the scoring for the Stags by defeating Vikaran Kadaba, 6-0, 6-1 in the sixth spot.
The Stags enter the 2011 MAAC Championships as the No. 2 seed. The conference tournament will be held at the USTA National Tennis Center in Flushing, N.Y., April 20.21.
