Nine Stags contributed to the win, with freshman
Reece Breault's win at fourth singles clinching the match for Fairfield. Breault defeated Michael Kopelman in a three-set match, 4-6, 6-2, 6-1, at third singles. The Binningen, Switzerland native also clinched Stags' match over Villanova on March 26. Freshmen
Dennis Zlobinsky and
R.J. Mirabile were also successful in singles play. Zlobinsky topped Jesse Frieder 4-6, 6-2, 6-2 in the No. 2 spot, while Mirabile was victorious over Jared Pendleton at fourth singles, 6-2, 1-6, 6-2. At No. 1 singles,
Dan Sauter fell to Josh Friedman 7-6(10), 6-1. Rounding out singles play for the Stags were
Bjorn Merinder and
Mike Lessing. After winning the first set, Merinder was unable to hold off Ferdinand Brunet, 5-7, 6-0, 6-1 at fifth singles, while Lessing was defeated by Regis Chang, 6-2, 6-2 in the No. 6 position.
Fairfield was undefeated in doubles play.
Joe Michalisin and
Erik Kremheller started things off at first doubles by taking care of Josh Friedman and Michael Kopelman 8-5.
Mark Kremheller and Zlobinsky were successful over Jesse Frieder and Jarred Pendleton 8-7(6) in the No. 2 spot, and Merinder and Sauter topped Alex Green and Andrei Stern in a decisive 8-1 match at No. 3 doubles.
The Stags return to action April 12 when they travel to take on the Quinnipiac Bobcats in a 3pm match.
