Tennis Travels To Loyola For Conference Match-Up

FAIRFIELD, Conn. – The men's and women's tennis teams look to keep their undefeated conference records Saturday when they head south to take on the Loyola Greyhounds. Both Fairfield teams enter the match with a 1-0 MAAC mark, both defeating Saint Peter's College last month. The men topped the Peacocks 6-1, while the women blanked the Peahens 7-0.

The tennis teams are both 6-7 going into the match. The men look to snap a two-match skid as they are coming off a tough 4-3 loss at Monmouth on Wednesday. The Loyola men bring an impressive 7-3 overall record and a 1-1 record in conference play. So far,  the Greyhounds topped Rider 7-0, but later dropped a 4-3 decision to Niagara. Last season, the Stags shut out the Greyhounds in a decisive 7-0 match.

The women's team was also victorious over Loyola one year ago, defeating the Greyhounds in a 5-2 match. The Loyola women enter Saturday's action with a 7-1 overall mark , and a 1-0 MAAC slate, which includes a 7-0 victory over Rider. The Greyhounds' only loss this spring came at the hands of Delaware State, which posted a 5-2 decision over Loyola.

Fairfield swept this week's MAAC Player Of The Week Award for the second time this season. Dan Sauter and Sharissa Ryan earned the honor for their impressive play last week. Sauter when 3-1 in their matches against Villanova and Harvard, while Ryan won both of her singles matches against Villanova and UMass. It marks the third award of the year for both teams, and the second in three weeks for Ryan.

The Stags look to snap Loyola's undefeated 5-0 home record Saturday in the 1 pm match.
