Men's Tennis Edged At Monmouth, 4-3

WEST LONG BRANCH, N.J. – The Fairfield men's tennis team was unable to hold off Monmouth on the road last night and fell to the Hawks in a close 4-3 match.

Stag duo of Erik Kremheller and Joe Michalisin were victorious over Laurence Heads and Ian Terpilowski 8-6 at No. 1 doubles. At No. 2 doubles, Dennis Zlobinsky and Rob Ferrante were topped by David Sherwood and Harveer Bhalla 8-1, while Bjorn Merinder and Dan Sauter fell in a hard fought match to Amar Subasic and Stephen Suboleski 9-8(4) in the No. 3 spot.

In singles play, Laurence Heads edged Sauter at first singles in a tight 6-3, 2-6, 6-3 match. Michalisin topped Amar Subasic 6-4, 6-4 at second singles, and Erik Kremheller prevailed in a three-set match over Harveer Bhalla 6-7(4), 7-5, 10-6 in the third singles spot. Zlobinsky was unable to hold off David Sherwood at No. 4 singles, 6-4, 6-3, but Rob Ferrante was successful against Ian Terpilowski 6-2, 4-6, 6-1 at No. 5 singles. Reece Breault rounded out the scoring for the Stags at sixth singles and fell to Stephen Suboleski 6-4, 6-1.

The loss brings the Stags to 6-7 overall. The men's tennis team looks to stay undefeated in conference play this weekend when they travel to Baltimore, Md. to take on Loyola in a 1pm match on April 2.
