Men's Tennis Drops Close Match To Harvard

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – The Fairfield University men's tennis team dropped a close 4-3 match to Ivy League foe Harvard last night. The Stags were unable to win a doubles match, but were victorious in three of their singles matches.
Joe Michalisin and Erik Kremheller fell to Aba Omodele-Lucien and Casy MacMaster 8-2 at first doubles. In the No. 2 spot, Dennis Zlobinsky and Rob Ferrante were topped by Alexei Chijoff-Evans and Davis Mangham in a close 8-7(3) match. Dan Sauter and Bjorn Merinder were defeated by Mac McAnulty and John Thornton 8-5 at third doubles.
In singles play, Zlobinsky fell to Harvard's Joshua Tchan 6-2, 6-4, in the first spot. At No. 2 singles, Sauter defeated Mac McAnulty in a well-played, three-set match 4-6, 6-2, 6-0, and Erik Kremheller was topped by Alexei Chijoff-Evans 6-4, 6-3 at third singles. Ferrante was victorious over John Thornton 7-6(5), 6-2 at fourth singles, while Reece Breault defeated Brendan Seaver 0-6, 6-2, 6-2 in the No. 5 spot. Rounding out singles play for the Stags was Mike Lessing who fell in a close 6-2, 7-6(4) match to Tunc Kiymaz at sixth singles.
The loss brings the Stags to 6-6 overall. They men's tennis team returns to action Wednesday, March 30m when they travel to take on Monmouth. The match time is set for 3pm.
