Breault Clinches Match Over Villanova

PHILADELPHA, Pa. – The Fairfield University men's tennis team bounced back from a three-match losing streak last evening when they defeated Villanova 4-3.

In doubles play, Dan Sauter and Bjorn Merinder paired to top Trenton Alenik and Thomas O'Brien 8-6 at No. 1 doubles. In the second spot, Dennis Zlobinsky and Reece Breault were defeated by Dave Shaheen and Ryan Peyton 8-5. Rounding out doubles play were brothers Erik and Mark Kremheller who teamed up to beat John Grosick and Kyle Grandin 8-5 at third doubles.

At No. 1 singles, Joe Michalisin fell in a close 7-6(4), 6-3 match to Tom O'Brien, while Zlobinsky fell to Villanova's Dave Shaheen 4-6, 6-3 at second singles. Sauter got Fairfield going as he topped Trenton Alenik 6-4, 6-4 at No. 3 singles. At fourth singles, Erik Kremheller defeated Matt Colones 6-3, 6-4. Rob Ferrante was unable to hold off Ryan Peyton and fell 6-3, 6-4 at No. 5 singles. Freshman Reece Breault clinched the match for the Stags at No. 6 singles over Liam Bohonnon in a decisive 6-1, 6-2 match.
 

The men's tennis team returns to action tomorrow when they travel to take on Ivy League foe Harvard in a 5:30pm match.
