Tennis Travels To St. Joe's Saturday

FAIRFIELD, Conn. – The Fairfield University men's and women's tennis teams travel to Philadelphia, Pa to take on St. Joe's this Saturday, March 19 at 12 pm. The Hawks are coming off spring break spent in Orlando, Fl. The St. Joe's men's team is currently 1-9 overall with a win over Rider, and the women are 2-12 with wins coming against Rider and Albany.

The Fairfield University men's team enters the match with a 5-4 overall record. Freshman Dennis Zlobinsky (Greevale, N.Y.) is on a three-match win streak in singles play after winning his match against UConn's Jai Yoon, 6-4, 6-2 in the No. 3 spot. He is now 11-6 overall and 6-3 at third singles. The Stags matched up with the Hawks in 2009, with Fairfield taking the match 6-1.

The women's team is currently 4-5 overall heading into the weekend. Freshman Sharissa Ryan (Bedford Hills, N.Y.), who was honored earlier in the week with the MAAC Player of the Week award, improved her win streak to five in a row after topping UConn's Emily Herb 6-1, 6-4 in the No. 2 singles spot. Ryan is currently 14-7 overall, and 7-3 in her last ten matches.
