Men's Tennis Topped By UConn. 4-2

FAIRFIELD, Conn. – The Fairfield University men's tennis team fell to the visiting UConn Huskies 4-2 this afternoon on Walsh Athletic Center Tennis Courts. The loss brings the Stags to 5-4 overall.
Fairfield duo of Dennis Zlobinsky and Rob Ferrante were victorious in their doubles match against Jai Yoon and Dave Adams, 8-6 in the No. 2 spot. At first doubles, Joe Michalisin and Erik Kremheller fell in a hard fought battle to Andrew Marcus and Scott Warden 9-8(5), while Dan Sauter and Bjorn Merinder were topped by Ricardo Cardona and Wei Lin, 8-4 in the No. 3 spot.
Michalisin and Zlobinsky were the only Stags to come out on top in their singles matches. Michalisin defeated Andrew Marcus 6-4, 6-4 in the No. 1 spot and Zlobinsky took care of Jai Yoon in 6-4, 6-2 at third singles. Sauter was unable to hold off Scott Warden in a well-played 6-4, 7-6(3) match at second singles. At No. 4 singles, Kremheller's match against Dave Adams was suspended when the score was 6-7(4), 6-4. UConn's Ryan Carr topped Ferrante 6-1, 6-4 at the No. 5 spot, while Reece Breault fell to Wei Lin in a close 6-2, 7-6(5) match in the sixth singles position.
The Fairfield men's tennis team looks to bounce back this Saturday, March 19 when they host St. Joe's in a 12 pm match on the Walsh Athletic Center Tennis Courts.
