STORRS, Conn. -- The Fairfield University softball team dropped a 12-0 decision to the University of Connecticut on Thursday afternoon. The Stags stroked five hits in the game, including a pair of doubles by Kristen Filicia.

Kristina Lingo, Rae Ball, and Alli Wigand each had a base hit for the Stags to complete the team's offensive output. The Huskies pushed 12 runs across home plate with 11 hits, including a third-inning grand slam by Andrea Huelsenbeck. The homer capped a five-run third inning, just one inning after the Huskies plated seven runs.

Sarah Minice took the loss for the Stags, lasting 1.2 innings in which she allowed four earned runs and seven runs overall. The senior also posted two walks and a pair of strikeouts. Freshman Rae Ball entered the game in the second inning, and went on to yield five more runs. She struck out two hitters in 2.1 innings pitched.
