Biography

2014: Kristen Filicia capped her senior season with an All-MAAC first team berth an All-ECAC selection, and a spot on the NFCA All-District team. Filicia led the team in hitting with a .375 batting average, a number which placed third in the MAAC statistics. She picked up a hit in 32 of her 42 appearances this year, including 12 games with two or more hits. She finished the year with nine doubles, four triples, two homers, and 26 RBI. Filicia registered a seven-game hitting streak from March 1 through March 22. After going hitless in two games, the second baseman followed up with a season-long nine-game run from March 27 through April 7. Filicia batted .480 during the seven-game streak (12 of 25) and followed with a .392 run in the nine-game streak (11 of 28). She batted .479 during the entire 18-game run. She was also one of the hardest hitters to strikeout, fanning eight times in 120 at-bats.  Filicia did not made an error in her last eight games of the regular season or in her last nine MAAC contests.

2013:  Filicia finished the regular-season 54 hits which tied her for the team lead with Sammy Ruffolo. She averaged better than a hit per game. She started all 50 games in 2013, joining Sammy Ruffolo and Lauren Liseth for that distinction. She put together the best month of April on the team, hitting .375 with 24 hits in 19 games. The infielder was one of four Fairfield student-athletes who hit better than .300 during the season, finishing with a .335 mark. She was the team’s top hitter against MAAC foes, sporting a .469 hitting percentage with 23 hits in 16 starts. Her five doubles ranked second on the team. She walked 16 times against only nine strikeouts and did not strikeout in her last 31 plate appearances of 2013She leads the team with 19 stolen bases in 25 attempts. As a second baseman, she led the team with 87 assists.

2012: Filicia finished 2012 as the team’s top overall hitter, batting .314 58 54 starts. She is only of only three players to start all 58 games during the year, joining Alli Wigand and Lauren Liseth. The infielder finished the campaign by hitting in nine of her final 10 games which included a season-best seven-game hitting streak from April 29 to May 10 Filicia registered a hit in 20 of her last 23 games, batting .311 during the run (24 of 77). She recorded her 100th career hit in the Siena doubleheader, finishing the season with 104 hits in 336 at-bats (.310 career batting average). Filicia was the only Stag with 50 or more hits in the regular season. She posted a hit in 41 of her 58 appearances. She led the team with 24 stolen bases (31 attempts), and ranks fifth all-time in Fairfield history with 50 steals (65 attempts). She had a stolen base in 20 games in 2012, highlighted by three steals in the regular-season finale against Siena. Filicia also led the team with 13 doubles and ranked fourth on the team with a .416 slugging percentage as a lead-off hitter.

2011: Filicia ranked second on the team with a .305 batting average, one of three Fairfield players over .300 during the season. She leads the team with 40 runs scored and with 22 walks. Plus, Filicia was hit by a pitch 15 times which gives her a .441 on-base percentage. She has two or more hits in 13 games, and has at least one hit in 30 contests. She led the MAAC with 28 stolen bases and ranked second in the conference with 38 runs scored. Filicia walked (22) nearly as many times as she has struck out (23). She registered a .300 batting average during the MAAC tournament, which ranked second on the team, and led the squad with a .417 on-base percentage in the tourney.

Before Fairfield: Filicia was a four-year letter winner at Torrey Pines High School. She excelled both on the diamond and in the classroom. She batted .441 as a senior with 16 RBI, which gave her a .375 career batting average with two home runs and 48 RBI. She collected 160 career hits, which established a school record at Torrey Pines. She was also the school record holder for runs scored, stolen bases, and single-season and career doubles. Filicia collected several honors during her career, which included team awards such as rookie of the year, defensive player of the year as a sophomore, offensive player of the year as a junior, and team most valuable player as a senior. She also captured an All-State berth in her final season at Torrey Pines.
