Weekly Notes
The Stags will continue their daunting road schedule this weekend when they travel to the Philadelphia area for three games against two A-10 opponents and one Big East foe. Fairfield faces Temple University on Friday at 3pm, Villanova University on Saturday at 1pm, before wrapping its trip up at Saint Joseph's University with a 1pm start.
With the change of venue of the March 15 game against St. John's, 23 of the Stags' first 24 games of the season are on the road, including the first 19. The Stags will not open at Alumni Diamond until March 29 when they host Fordham.
Fairfield (5-6) vs. Temple (9-5): The Stags and the Owls will meet for the first time in program history.
Fairfield vs. Villanova (6-10): The Wildcats will take on the Stags for the first time since the 2008 season when the two squads went head-to-head in Florida. Fairfield took that meeting by a score of 8-5 for its first win of the year. The Stags are 10-2 all-time against Villanova.
Fairfield vs. Saint Joseph's (7-10): The Stags and the Hawks will face each other for the first time in six years. The first and only time the two squads met was back on March 19, 2005 for a doubleheader. The two teams split that doubleheader, with the Stags taking the first game 7-2 before falling to the Hawks, 3-2, in the nightcap.
