FAIRFIELD, Conn. – The Fairfield University field hockey team will travel to Albany, N.Y. this Saturday to compete in its second America East Conference game against 18th-ranked University at Albany at 4pm. The Stags will return to University Field at 2 pm for a Sunday matchup against Brown University.
Fairfield is currently 8-3 overall, and 0-1 in America East after losing their opening conference game against No. 13 New Hampshire last Saturday in a 2-0 battle. The Stags' defense has been consistent and goalkeeper
Maddy Sposito has earned 25 saves on the season with a goals against average of 1.51 (currently 18
th in the country) and a save percentage of .735 (12
th in the nation).

Marit Westenberg continues to hold the top spot on the team with 15 points, registering six goals and three assists. Freshman
Felicitas Heinen is close behind with 12 points, owning five goals and two assists. Collectively, Fairfield has outshot their opponents 137-108 and outscored their opponents 18-12.
Albany is 0-1 in conference play after their 4-3 overtime loss to No. 14 Maine. The Great Danes are 8-5 overall, have outscored their opponents 38-21 and has almost twice as many shots as the opposition, 203-108. Albany may be considered a second half team having scored 24 of their 38 goals in the period. Senior forward Christina Patrick is the team point leader with 27, including 11 goals and five assists as well as an impressive shot percentage of .440. Sophomore midfielder Corrine McConville is next in line behind Patrick with 21 points, recording nine goals and three assists.
In the 2010 matchup between the Stags and Albany, Fairfield came up short up with a 3-0 loss after a solid first half of play.
The Brown University field hockey team is 2-8 overall and 0-3 in Ivy League play. The Bears split their last two games, losing to Harvard 4-0 and beating Quinnipiac 3-2. Against Quinnipiac, Meghan O'Donnell, Kit Masini and Clayton Christus each had a goal. O'Donnell and Leslie Springmeyer are the team point leaders with ten each. O'Donnell, a freshman forward, owns five goals while senior forward Springmeyer has four goals and two assists on the year. Freshman goalkeeper Shannon McSweeney has kept busy with 99 saves in 10 outings.
In their meeting during the 2010 season, the Stags topped the Bears in a 5-2 victory by outshooting Brown 17-12.
Last time out, the Fairfield field hockey team earned a 2-1 overtime victory against Lock Haven as they held their Play for the Cure event.
