FAIRFIELD, Conn. –
The Fairfield University men's swimming and diving team topped NJIT 110-91 this afternoon in the Stags' final home meet at the RecPlex. It was an all-around team effort for Fairfield (4-3) with seven different Stags winning individual events. 
 
In the 200m freestyle, freshman Rich Straub (Pelham, N.Y.) captured the event with a time of 2:07.39 while junior Matt Palmer (Winsted, Conn.) placed third with a time 2:33.57. In the 100m IM, junior Brian Friedlander (River Edge, N.J.) was victorious with a time of 1:04.06 while sophomore Tim McCann (Hackettstown, N.J.) was third in 1:07.23.
 
In the 50m fly, Stefan Toi (Newtown, Conn.) posted a winning time of 27.64 seconds while junior Anthony Caserta (Youngstown, N.Y.) was third in 29.71 seconds.
 
In the 100m back, Kenny Muti (Walpole, Mass.) won the event with a time of 30.43 seconds while freshman Kyle Rozanitis (Mt. Lakes, N.J.) was the runner-up 33.24 seconds. Junior Andrew Robinson (Manalapan, N.J.) captured the 400m free with a time of 4:26.81 while senior Jonathan O'Connor (Norwalk, Conn.) was the runner-up in 4:32.20.
 
The Stags also swept both the 1-meter and 3-meter events. On the 1-meter, sophomore Ryan Krebs (East Williston, N.Y.) posted a winning score of 201.08 and was followed by Brett Carisio (Cheshire, Conn.) with a score of 172.28 and freshman Brien Bates (Wellesley, Mass.) with a score of 169.35. On the 3-meter, Bates had a personal best of 199.80 to win the even while Krebs finished with 172.43.
 
Junior Tommy Peters (Basking Ridge, N.J.) was the runner-up in the 100m free with a time of 58.46 seconds while freshman Kevin Greener (Chatham, N.J.) was third in 59.34 seconds. In the 50m freestyle, junior Brendan Sarpu (South Windsor, Conn.) placed second with a time of 25.95 seconds while freshman Cody Parker (Ocean Twp., N.J.) was third in 26.69 seconds. In the 50m breaststroke, senior Charlie Helm (Cheshire, Conn.) was the runner-up in 33.10 seconds.
 
In the final home meet of her career, senior Katie Merz (Absecon, N.J.) clocked a time of 2:15.58 in the 200m freestyle and posted a time of 1:15.39 in the 100m IM. In the 50m free, seniors Allison Russoniello (Middletown, N.J.) and Sam Ceglia (Glen Cove, N.Y.) had times of 30.55 seconds and 30.57 seconds, respectively.
 
Senior Wanda Szarek (Middletown, Conn.) had a time of 1:08.09 in the 100m free while freshman Emily Pedrick (New Milford, N.J.) finished in 1:04.50. In the 50m fly, junior Caroline Menapace (Ambler, Pa.) clocked a time 32.22 seconds while Sam Distler (Glens Falls, N.Y.) finished in 33.35 seconds.
 
Senior Sasha Campbell (Old Greenwich, Conn.) posted a time of 36.37 seconds in the 50m back while sophomore Annie O'Halloran (Fanwood, N.J.) finished in 37.90 seconds. In the 400m freestyle, sophomore Cacky Keating (Chatham, N.J.) finished in 4:42.95 while freshman Suzy Lawlor (North Wales, Pa.) finished in 4:59.27.
 
In the last individual event of the day, the 50m breast, Russoniello had a time of 39.47 seconds, Szarek a time of 40.43 seconds and senior Colleen Wilson (Niantic, Conn.) posted a time of 40.93 seconds.
 
In the diving events, sophomore Kim Pettit (Westwood, Mass.) posted a score of 108.90 on the 1-meter and 114.93 on the 3-meter. Freshman Abigail Sanders (Falls Church, Va.) had a mark of 145.28 on the 1-meter and 154.50 on the 3-meter.
 
In the final event for the seniors in the RecPlex, that Stags fielded two co-ed 200m freestyle relays. The squad of O'Connor, Merz, Szarek, and Campbell clocked a time of 2:00.62 while the quartet of Russoniello, Helm, Ceglia, and Wilson finished in 2:01.57.
 
Fairfield resumes MAAC action on January 29 when the Stags travel to Iona College.
