Men's And Women's Golf Prepare for ECAC Championsh

FAIRFIELD, Conn. – The Fairfield men's and women's golf team will travel to Egg Harbor City N.J. this weekend to compete at the ECAC Championship on Twisted Dunes Golf Course.
So far this fall, the women have competed in two tournaments. They started their 2010-2011 season with two top ten finishes, including one in the top five. The Stags finished 5th at the Towson Women's Golf Classic on Hillendale Golf Course. Senior Christina DeStefano (Poughkeepsie, N.Y.) paced the Stags with a two day, 36-hole, total of 161. She finished the Towson Invitational at 13th overall. Senior Kristen Macdonald (Billerica, Mass.) earned a top 20 finish as well shooting a 162 total for 17th overall. As a team, the Stags shot a 661.

The women's team continued their strong start four days later at the Dartmouth Invitational. The Stags finished tied for 7th at the 54-hole event on the Hanover Country Club Golf Course. As a team, the women shot a 660 total. Kristen MacDonald finished top ten overall to lead the Stags with a +8, 152 total. MacDonald tied for 6th out of over 110 competitors. Classmate Annie Sperandio (Lexington, Mass.) improved throughout the tournament to finish with a 165 total.
The men's golf team has also participated in two tournaments this fall. They began their 2010-2011 season at the Rutgers Invitational, and most recently played in the University of Hartford Hawk Invitational. The men finished 7th place out of 22 teams at Rutgers Golf Course shooting a team total of 600. Sophomore Scott Rainaud (South Hadley, Mass.) led the Stags with a three-round total of 217 earning him 8th overall. Senior Sean Deale (Newton, Mass.) finished top 20 as well with his 54-hole total score of 222. 
The Stags secured 10th place at the Hartford Hawk Invitational after two rounds of play with their team total of 585. The last round was cut due to inclement weather. Sean Deale paced the Stags for the second tournament in a row with a total of 151 on the two rounds. Scott Rainaud was again right behind Deale finishing with a 160.
The men's golf team will begin the two –day event on Twisted Dunes Golf Course October 1, while the women start on October 3.
