Box Score
In front of a program record 931 fans, the Fairfield University women's soccer team dropped a 2-0 decision to fifth-ranked Boston College on Lessing Field Friday night. The loss drops the Stags to 3-2-0 on the year, while the Eagles improve to 5-0-1.

Fairfield keeper Kelly Boudreau tied the school record for saves in a home game, making 14 stops in the contest.

Despite being outshot 18-2 in the first-half the Stags battled the 2009 national quarterfinalist to a scoreless tie. Both of the Stags first-half shots were on net, while the Eagles put seven of their 18 shots on cage.
Boston College broke through on a corner kick at 52:14. Hannah Cerrone served the ball from the far corner to the opposite side of the box, where Amy Caldwell took the first of three Eagle shots.  Kelly Boudreau stopped the first two, with the second coming from Julia Bouchelle and the rebounding caroming to the foot of Brooke Knowlton for the tally.
The second goal game exactly 26 minutes later as the Eagles played a long ball to the top of the box. Victoria DiMartino was able to take control of the ball away from a Stags defender and place it behind a charging Boudreau.
Boudreau, the reigning Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Defensive Player of the Week, made seven of her career-high setting 14 saves in each half. Her Boston College counterpart, Jillian Mastroianni, made three saves in the contest.
Fairfield was outshot for the game 29-3 and did not earn a corner kick, while Boston College was awarded nine opportunities. The Stags committed one additional foul, 12-11, on the night.
The Stags return to action on Sunday, September 12, when they host UMass. That game is set for 1 p.m. on Lessing Field.
