FAIRFIELD, Conn. –
The Fairfield University men's and women's swimming and diving teams swept Manhattan College this afternoon at the RecPlex. The men's team won 135-88 while the women's team came away with the 119-74 victory as both teams improved to 3-2 on the season.
 
Numerous Stags had individual victories on the day. Freshman Emily Pedrick (New Milford, N.J.) won a pair of events. She captured the 200m free in a time of 2:15.37 and the 100m free in a time of 1:03.90. Freshman Moe Osmulski (Rumson, N.J.) broke a six-year-old program record in the 200m IM by clocking a time of 2:27.51. She broke the previous standard of 2:27.95 set in 2004.
 
Sophomore Caitlin Moran (West Henrietta, N.Y.) won the 50m free with a time of 28.91 seconds. Freshman Bridget McGowan (Port Chester, N.Y.) had a time of 1:10.74 in the 100m back good enough to win the event. In the women's 1500m freestyle, Fairfield took the top three spots. Freshman Megan Kuzniewski (Malverne, N.Y.) captured the event with a time of 19:18.33 while Brigitte Germain (Scranton, Pa.) was second in 19:26.70 and Colleen Wilson (Niantic, Conn.) was third in 20:31.53.
 
The women's 400m medley relay of McGowan, Osmulski, Sam Distler (Glens Falls, N.Y.) and Pedrick posted a winning time of 4:45.96. The 800m free relay of Michelle Yoshida (Kaneohe, Hawaii), Cacky Keating (Chatham, N.J.), Moran, and Osmulski had a time of 8:55.86.
 
On the men's side, sophomore Paul Bimmler (Reading, Mass.) picked up a pair of individual wins.He captured the 50m free with a time of 24.72 seconds and the 100m back in a time of 1:02.30. Junior Stefan Toi (Newtown, Conn.) won the 100m fly with a time of 1:01.02 and was the runner-up in the 200m free with a time of 2:03.95.  . Junior Brian Friedlander (River Edge, N.J.) captured the 100m breaststroke with a time of 1:08.77 while Andrew Hiss (Freehold, N.J.) won the 200m IM in a time of 2:20.31.
 
The Stags also had several of second-place finishes as well. Senior Jonathan O'Connor (Norwalk, Conn.) was the runner-up in the 1500m free with a time 17:54.78. Sophomore Tommy Peters (Basking Ridge, N.J.) was the runner-up in the 100m free with a time of 57.10 seconds
 
The 400m medley relay of Hiss, Friedlander, Andrew Robinson (Manalapan, N.J.), Greg Bellizzi (Edison, N.J.) posted a winning time of 4:10.49. The 800m medley relay of Bimmler, Cody Parker (Ocean Twp., N.J.), Toi, and Robinson had a winning time of 8:15.14.
 
On the boards, sophomore Ryan Krebs (East Williston, N.Y.) picked up first place points in both events. On the 1-meter, Krebs had a personal best of 205.50. On the 3-meter, he had a score of 171.98. Sophomore Kim Pettit (Westwood, Mass.) also notched first-place points on both boards. She had a mark of 116.85 on the 1-meter and a score of 131.0 on the 3-meter.
 
Fairfield returns to action next weekend when the Stags travel to Bryant University.
