FAIRFIELD, Conn. -- Rising water and flooding conditions were cited by officials from the Head of the Riverfront to cancel the event for this year. The regatta would have been the Fairfield University rowing teams' first event of the season.
The Stags were set to enter three crews into the Head of the Riverfront, namely the women's varsity 8, women's varsity 4, and men's varsity 4.
Organizers said this was to be the biggest year yet for the Head of the Riverfront, with over 500 entries.
The Stags will look toward the Head of the Houastonic in Shelton to make their debut. The team will head to the Housatonic on Saturday, October 9.
