FAIRFIELD, Conn. – The Fairfield women’s tennis team puts their unblemished league record on the line when they host Niagara on Sunday at 3:00 p.m. on the WAC Tennis Courts.
The Stags improved to 3-0 in MAAC play with a 7-0 win over Monmouth on Monday, April 3. Fairfield picked up three wins in doubles action to secure the point. In singles action, Sarah Stuhlmann won a three-set match at No. 1, 5-7, 6-0, 10-8. At No. 2, Nicole Aragones won in straight sets, 6-4, 6-2. In the third spot, Diana Prinos grabbed a 6-4, 6-1 win. Jessica Pil played at No. 4 winning 6-0, 5-7, 10-5. At No. 5, Shelby Vertula earned a 6-1, 6-0 victory. And at No. 6, Emily Lombardi captured a 6-0, 6-0 victory.
Niagara sits at 1-1 in league play heading into the week. The Purple Eagles will host Marist on Friday night before travelling to Fairfield on Sunday. In their latest outing, they topped Monmouth 4-3 on April 2. They earned the doubles point by winning at No. 1 and No. 2. And in singles action, grabbed three points to secure the match win. For the Purple Eagles, Shannon Wong earned a victory at No. 2, Sharlee Deshmukh earned a win at No.3, and Ali Hutchinson won in three sets at No. 5.
Fairfield will hit the courts just three days later, hosting Marist on Wednesday, April 12 at 3:00 p.m.
