FAIRFIELD, Conn. – The Fairfield University men’s tennis team lost 7-0 to Monmouth University on Wednesday afternoon on the WAC Tennis Courts.
In doubles action, Brad Orban and Anthony Caputo picked up a win at the No. 1 spot (6-1). Jeffrey Rodgers and Tyler Shibles dropped a 6-3 match at No. 2. And in the third spot, Ethan Ammon and Dylan Appel forced a tie-breaker but fell 7-6(8).
In singles play, the Hawks were able to grab straight-set wins in five of six matches. At the top three spots, Orban fell 6-3, 6-4 at No. 1, Caputo dropped 6-4, 6-3 at No. 2, and Rodgers lost 6-1, 6-4 at No. 3. Appel forced three sets in the fifth set before falling 2-6, 7-6, 6-0.
The Stags are back on the courts on Friday when they host Sacred Heart at 3:00 p.m.
