FAIRFIELD, Conn. - The Fairfield University women's tennis team dropped its spring opener to St. John's, 7-0, on Friday afternoon in Flushing, New York.
In doubles action, Sarah Stuhlmann and Diana Prinos dropped in the first spot, 6-2. And in the second spot, Emily Lombardi and Jessica Pil fell 6-1.
St. John's was just as impressive in singles play as they topped the Stags in straight sets in all six positions. Stuhlmann fell in 6-0, 6-0 at No. 1. Prinos lost 6-2, 6-2 in the second spot, Pil played at No. 3 falling 6-3, 6-0, and at Shelby Vertula played the No. 4, faling by a score of 6-1, 6-2.
Next up, the team will face Lafayette on February 4 at the Cullman-Heyman Tennis Center.
