BRONX, N.Y. – The Fairfield University women’s cross country team was in action for the final time in 2016 today, hitting the course at Van Cortlandt Park for the IC4A Championships. The Stags competed in the University division, where Sam Daly’s fourth-place finish led the squad to a 14th-place team showing.

Competing in his final race as a Stag, Daly turned in an 8K time of 25:51. The Stags’ first top-10 finisher at the MAAC Championship since 1996 concluded his career in fourth place today, 10 seconds off the winning time of 25:41 clocked by Northeastern’s Paul Duffey.

Scott Daly was the next Stag to finish, placing 31st in the 190-harrier field with a time of 26:51. Senior Mike Flanagan turned in a mark of 27:34 in his collegiate finale, with Mike Bodie (29:08) and Timothy Salit (29:11) rounding Fairfield’s scoring quintet.

In the 14th-place position, the Stags bested MAAC foe Canisiu, Holy Cross, Bryant, NJIT and Colgate. Duffey led Northeastern to the team victory as the Huskies placed three runners in the top five.
