Men?s Tennis Takes on Bryant Wednesday

FAIRFIELD, Conn. – The Fairfield University men’s tennis team is hitting the road this week to face Bryant. The Stags will take on the Bulldogs on Wednesday, March 18 at 1:00 p.m. in New Haven, Conn. at the Yale Indoor Courts.

Fairfield (4-3; 2-0 MAAC) vs. Bryant: Wednesday's match will be the first time the two programs will meet for dual play within the last four years.

A Look at the Bulldogs: Bryant stands 1-9 so far this season with a 0-0 mark in NEC play. The Bulldogs are coming off a 5-1 loss to Louisiana on Friday, March 13 in New Orleans, La. Bryant has posted a victory over New Orleans and has fallen to Dartmouth, Buffalo, Binghamton, Marist, Boston College, Brown, Harvard, Lamar, and Louisiana. In the fall, the Bulldogs competed in seven tournaments, including the Binghamton Invitational, the Brown Invitational, the Bryant Invitational, the UConn Invitational, the Yale Invitational, the MIT Invitational, and the ITA Regionals.

Last Time Out: The men’s team posted a 7-0 victory over conference foe Rider on Monday, March 16 at the Rider Campus Courts in Lawrenceville, N.J. Fairfield captured the doubles point before posting singles victories in the No. 1 – No. 6 spots. At No. 1 singles, Brad Orban defeated Al-shawafi, 6-1, 6-2, while Ofir Solomon downed Popso, 6-1, 6-2, in the No. 2 spot. At No. 3 singles was George Tioutine who beat Phan, 6-0, 6-3, while Peter Colliard blanked Begley, 6-0, 6-0, in the No. 4 spot. Rounding out play for Fairfield was Luke Lemieux who topped Van Herwarde, 6-1, 6-0, while Gabriel Pamich edged Berhane, 6-4, 6-7(4), 10-7 in the No. 6 slot.

Looking Ahead: After Wednesday’s match, Fairfield will resume play on Saturday, March 21 against Hofstra.
