EDISON, N.J. – Fairfield University Women's Soccer junior Ashley McMahon was tabbed the Metro Conference Offensive Player of the Week after tallying three points on a goal and an assist in Fairfield's 2-1 road victory over Siena. The weekly award is the first in McMahon's career and the second by a Stag this season.
 
"Ashley was outstanding for us on Saturday and delivered when we needed her most," Head Coach David Barrett said. "She created our first goal and then showed tremendous confidence and quality to score the game-winner. It was a big-time performance in a really important conference win."
 
McMahon contributed to both of Fairfield's goal as the Stags rallied with a comeback victory in the final 25 minutes. McMahon started the rally by crossing a ball to the far post that Ashlyn Walsh was able to run down with a sliding finish to tie the match in the 68th minute.
 
That score snapped Siena's scoreless streak that had spanned 699 minutes with seven-straight shutouts.
 
McMahon would find the back of the net herself when she presided over a free kick just outside the box in the 81st minute. She was able to get her right-footed shot over the keeper on the near post to give the Stags a 2-1 victory.
 
The junior has now tallied points in back-to-back matches to bring her season total to four points and her Fairfield career to 23.
 
The Stags – the only Metro team with an unbeaten 3-0 conference record – will look to continue that momentum with a home match against Iona on Wednesday at 7pm.
