FAIRFIELD, Conn. – For the first time this year, the Fairfield University men's soccer team will experience a home stand, a two-gamer that begins on Saturday night. The Stags will host the University of New Haven at Lessing Field with the start slated for 6 pm.

The team has a three-game unbeaten streak at this point of the season, a run that started with a road win over UConn followed by draws with Lehigh University at home and with Columbia on the road. After scoring a goal in each of their first two matches, the Stags have tallied five goals over their last two outings.

Five different Fairfield student-athletes combined for those five goals, namely Jett Aktan, Sean Albritton, Cameron Gerber, Cristian Ortiz, and Cristiano Carlos. That balanced attack has caused some issues for the opposition, as Fairfield has posted at least one goal in each of its first four games.

Carlos is the lone Stag with multiple goals this season, posting three along with an assist to lead his teammates with seven points. He is the top scoring freshman in the Metro Conference, placing fourth overall with his point total. The forward has also posted at least one point in each of his four appearances this season.

On the other side of the pitch, goalkeeper Evan Chomow continues to anchor the Stags' defense, playing in all 360 minutes played by the team. He brings a 1.75 goals against average and a .682 save percentage into the New Haven match, having surrendered seven goals, two of those coming off penalty kicks. He has collected 15 saves, stopping four or more shots in three of his four appearances. In the Columbia match, Chomow turned away a season-best six attempts.

The University of New Haven will play its fifth road game in six dates, sporting a 1-4 mark to date. The Chargers own a 1-1 mark in the month of September, defeating Quinnipiac University at home before falling to the University of New Hampshire.

Pol Bota and Luke Fiscella were responsible for the two goals in the win over Quinnipiac, finding the back of the net in the 65^th and 72^nd minutes respectively. Goalkeeper Garrett Smith registered five saves in the match to record his first clean sheet of the campaign.

The Fairfield University men's soccer team will continue their two-match home stand on Saturday, September 19 when the Stags host Siena University at Lessing Field. The 6 pm match represents Fairfield's Metro Conference opener, the first of 10 conference matches on the 2026 slate.
