FAIRFIELD, Conn. –Cristiano Carlos, a freshman on the Fairfield University men's soccer team, earned the Metro Conference Rookie of the Week award for his performance against UConn last week.

The rookie tallied the game winning goal against the Huskies, leading Fairfield to a 1-0 win on the road. Carlos posted the deciding goal in the 75^th minute when he took a loose ball inside the box and sent a shot from the right side of the box that caught the far corner of the goal.

The forward has made quite an impact on the Stags soccer program through his first two matches. Carlos is responsible for both Fairfield goals scored so far, posting a goal that tied the game before #17 Marshall University rallied for a 2-1 win on its home pitch. The two goals represent the only two shots that he has taken this year.

The Fairfield University men's soccer team, under Head Coach Krystian Witkowski, will play its first home match of the 2026 campaign when it hosts Lehigh University on Tuesday, September 1 at Lessing Field. The match is slated for a 6 pm start.
