Fairfield Sits Second, Three Stags Among the Individual Top 10 After Round 1 of the 2026 MAAC Championship

Grace Windfelder is tied for second place after 18 holes at Disney’s Magnolia Golf Course

LAKE BUENA VISTA, Fla. – After 18 holes at the 2026 MAAC Championship, Fairfield University Women's Golf sits in second place in the 10-team field. Grace Windfelder is tied for second on the individual ledger to pace three Stags among the top 10 after their first trip through Disney's Magnolia Golf Course.

The Stags turned in a 301 for the day, two strokes behind Round 1 leader Quinnipiac. Fairfield owns a five-shot cushion over third-place UAlbany.
 
Windfelder fired a one-over-par 73, sharing second place QU's Sophia Fujita. Thantita Aungsuseewong from UAlbany leads the field with a opening-round 72.
 
Ainhoa Jauregi finished Round 1 in sixth place with a 75, and Katelynn Waclawski turned in a 76 to share seventh place in the 50-golfer field.  Addie Chang carded a 77 (T-13th) in her first career round at the conference tournament, and Sofia Nogalo added an 81 (T-29th).
 
Round 2 of the 54-hole MAAC Championship tees off at 8 a.m. on Wednesday. The Stags hit the course beginning at 10:15 a.m.
