ATLANTIC CITY, N.J. – The 25th-ranked Fairfield University Women's Basketball team's season has reached its pinnacle as the Stags will compete in the MAAC Championship Final on Monday night against the Quinnipiac Bobcats. Fairfield will be looking for their third-straight MAAC Title and to punch their ticket to the 2026 NCAA Tournament. Tip-off for the championship game is 6pm at Jim Whelan Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City, N.J.
The Stags will enter the Finals ranked 25th-nationally in the Associated Press (AP) Top-25 poll. They are also the second ranked mid-major team in the country in the College Insider Mid-Major Poll.
Fairfield earned their chance to play for the title with a hard-fought 65-48 win over Merrimack in the semifinals.
Jillian Huerter led the team with a career-high 19-point performance while going 5-for-8 from 3-point range.
As a team, the Stags hit nine 3-pointers in the victory, bringing their season total to 358 made triples. The number is the most in the nation and the 12th-highest in NCAA Women's Basketball Division I history.
Fairfield will be looking to three-peat with a win while dominating the league with a 65-2 record against MAAC opponents over the last three seasons.
The Stags are led by the MAAC Player of the Year
Kaety L'Amoreaux who leads the league with 18.0 points per game.
Defensively, the Stags tied a season-high with 16 steals while forcing 24 turnovers against Merrimack.
Cyanne Coe led the defensive effort with a career-high six steals.
Quinnipiac enters play as the tournament's top-seed and advancing to the championship with an overtime victory over Iona. Jackie Grisdale is the team's leading scorer at 12.8 points per game.
The winner of the championship will advance to the 2026 NCAA Tournament. It would be Fairfield's third-straight year in the dance and the eighth time in program history.
