ATLANTIC CITY, N.J. – The 25th-ranked Fairfield University Women's Basketball team will take on third-seeded Merrimack in the Air Force Reserve MAAC Championship Semifinals on Sunday at 2:30pm. The Stags will be making their 27th appearance in the conference semifinals and their fifth in the last six seasons. The Stags will be looking for their 14th all-time appearance in the MAAC Championship Final.
Fairfield is coming of a 16-point win over Sacred Heart with three student-athletes tallying double-figures. The MAAC Player of the Year,
Kaety L'Amoreaux led the way with 21 points, the 13th time this season she has netted 20 or more points. The performance brought L'Amoreaux's season total to 558 points, tying for the fourth-most in Fairfield single-season history.
All-MAAC First Teamer
Meghan Andersen followed with 16 points including a pair of 3-pointers. She has now swished through 85 triples this year, the second-most in program history. Her 219 career 3s also jumps her to third on the career list.
All-MAAC Third Teamer
Cyanne Coe also reached double-figures with 10 points. Her .667 field goal percentage is currently the highest percentage ever by a Stag, topping the previous mark set by Katrina Fields during the 1983-84 season by nearly 70 points.
The win also marked the 100th victory in the career of Head Coach
Carly Thibault-DuDonis as she becomes the fastest coach in MAAC history while reaching the milestone in just 126 games.
Fairfield has also now swished through 349 3-pointers, the 22nd most in NCAA Women's Basketball Division I history.
The Stags will meet Merrimack in the postseason for the first time in program history. The Warriors are led by Madison Roman who averages a double-double with 13.5 points and 10.8 rebounds.
The winner of the game will take on the winner of Quinnipiac and Iona in the MAAC Championship Final on Monday night at 6pm.
