Stags Open 2026 MAAC Championships in Quarterfinal Round on Friday

ATLANTIC CITY, N.J. – The 25th-ranked Fairfield University Women's Basketball team will begin their quest for a third-straight MAAC Championship and NCAA Tournament appearance when they face Sacred Heart in the Quarterfinal round in the Air Force Reserve MAAC Championship. Fairfield's opening tip-off will be on Friday at 2:30pm at Jim Whelan Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City, N.J.

For the second time in the last three seasons, the Stags will enter the tournament as a nationally-ranked team as they garnered the No. 25 spot in the most recent Associated Press (AP) Top-25 poll. Fairfield is also slotted number two in the College Insider Mid-Major Poll while receiving a first-place vote.

The Stags amassed a 19-1 conference record during the regular season while posting 25 wins overall. Head Coach Carly Thibault-DuDonis is one win away of achieving 100 during her four-year career and would become the fastest coach in MAAC history with 100 victories, while coaching in her 126th career game. The NCAA record is held by Kim Mulkey who reached the number in 116. Coach Carly is currently seventh among all active Division I coaches with a .792 winning percentage.

With all that success, the Stags were well-represented on the MAAC's postseason awards list with Kaety L'Amoreaux and Meghan Andersen earning spots on the All-MAAC First Team while Cyanne Coe was selected to the Third Team.

L'Amoreaux led the trio as she was voted the MAAC Player of the Year after leading the conference in: points, assists, field goal percentage, free throws, and free throw percentage. She becomes the third Stag in the last four seasons to be named a MAAC Player of the Year.

With their 19-1 MAAC record, the Stags earned a share of the MAAC Regular Season Championship. It was their third-straight regular season title and the seventh in program history.

The Stags enter as the nation's top 3-point shooting team with 11.8 made triples per game, which has already set a MAAC single-season record.

The Stags will take on seventh-seeded Sacred Heart for the first time in the MAAC Tournament. The Pioneers are led by Amelia Wood who averages 13.2 points per game.

The winner of the Quarterfinal round will advance to the Semifinal round on Sunday at 2:30pm.
