FAIRFIELD, Conn. – After her history-breaking performance this week, Fairfield University Women's Basketball junior Road Runner Meghan Andersen was named the Air Force Reserve MAAC Player of the Week for the third time this season. Andersen had the best offensive game in program history, netting a single-game record 40 points in just 25 minutes against Marist.
 
"What a cool moment to see a record broken both with Meg breaking the individual single game record and our team scoring the most points ever in a game," Head Coach Carly Thibault-DuDonis said. "We talk all the time about how individual success doesn't happen without team success, and this is a great example of what that looks like. I'm proud of Meg for staying in the gym even when shots weren't falling."
 
Andersen also connected on a career-high eight 3-pointers in her historic game, going 8-for-10 from behind the 3-point arc. The eight triples were the second-most in a game in school history, behind Sam Lewis' 11 against Siena set during the previous school record of 39 points.
 
In total, Andersen shot 70 percent from the floor and 67 percent from deep. She also netted her 200th career 3-pointer, becoming one of just five Stags to reach that mark. She also jumped into the top-15 in program history in career points and has now tallied over 1,370 in her career.
 
The weekly award is Andersen's third this season and the ninth time a Stag has earned weekly recognition from the conference. It is also her sixth career honor.
 
Andersen's 40-point performance also helped the Stags break the team's single-game scoring record as the Stags tallied 109 in the win over the Red Foxes. The two victories improved Fairfield's conference mark to 14-1, sitting second in the league.
 
Fairfield will have back-to-back road games, starting with a visit to Mount St. Mary's on Thursday at 7pm.
