FAIRFIELD, Conn. – The Fairfield University Women's Basketball team will bid to clinch at least a share of their third-straight MAAC Regular Season Championship on Senior Night when they host Sacred Heart on Saturday at 7pm. Prior to the game, the Stags will honor the Class of 2026 of
Jalyn Sackrider,
Sydni Scott,
Lauren Beach, and
Janelle Brown with a special pregame ceremony starting at 6:20pm.
The Stags enter the contest in a first-place tie with Quinnipiac with their 18-1 conference record. With a victory, Fairfield will clinch at least a share of the regular season title, their third-straight and the seventh in program history. The Stags will be the number one seed in the upcoming MAAC Championships with a win over the Pioneers and a Quinnipiac loss to Canisius.
Fairfield received a season-high 18 points in the most recent Associated Press (AP) Top-25 poll, the second-highest for a team outside the Top-25. They also sit third in the College Insider Mid-Major Top-25 poll.
Sophomore Road Runner
Cyanne Coe led the Stags in their win at Siena, the seventh-straight victory for the squad. She poured in a career-high 19 points while also leading the team with nine rebounds. She leads the MAAC with a .667 field goal percentage against conference opponents.
On the defensive side, the Stags did not allow a 3-pointer as the Saints went 0-for-11 from behind the arc. In the season series, Fairfield forced Siena to an 0-for-20 showing from deep, the first time Fairfield did not allow a 3-pointer to an opponent in a season series since the 2011-12 season (Rider).
Over their last 10 wins, the Fairfield defense is limiting opponents to 2.1 3-pointers per game on an .160 clip.
Before the game, the Stags will honor the Class of 2026 which consists of graduate transfer
Jalyn Sackrider as well as seniors
Sydni Scott,
Lauren Beach, and
Janelle Brown. The trio of seniors have combined to appear in 299 games for the Stags, led by Brown's program-record 134. The quartet will be honored with a ceremony starting at 6:20pm.
Sacred Heart brings a 10-9 conference mark into the contest while on a current three-game losing streak. Amelia Wood is the team's leading scorer at 13.4 points per game.
Fairfield will next turn their attention to the Air Force Reserve MAAC Championships held at Jim Whalen Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City, N.J., with their first game on Friday.
