HOPEWELL, N.J. – Fairfield University Women's Basketball junior guard
Kaety L'Amoreaux was named a Becky Hammon Mid-Major Player of the Year Semifinalist presented by Her Hoop Stats. L'Amoreaux, the MAAC's leading scorer, is one of 10 mid-major players in the nation selected to the list.
"While we really have narrowed our focus to be solely on the success of the team and the next game as we near the end of the regular season, this is such an incredible national recognition for Kaety," Head Coach
Carly Thibault-DuDonis said. "She keeps pushing herself and her teammates to new heights and deserves to be recognized as one of the best players in the country."
L'Amoreaux is in the midst of a career season, already posting personal-bests in points and 3-pointers made. She currently leads the MAAC in: scoring (19.0 points), assists (4.5), field goal percentage (.485), and free throw percentage (.896).
Her career year has been recognized around the conference and around the college basketball landscape as she has earned a combined 10 weekly awards. She leads the conference with six MAAC Player of the Week awards – the most by any student-athlete since the 2019-20 season. She has also received three All-Met Player of the Week honors and a spot on the USBWA National Players of the Week.
Heading into one of the final weekends of the regular season, L'Amoreaux is five points shy of reaching 500 points in a single season and would become the 13th Stag to ever reach that mark.
Her 19.0 scoring average is currently the seventh-highest by a Stag in a single season while her .896 free throw percentage holds the top-spot.
She has reached double-figures in scoring 23 times this season while tallying 20 or more points in 12 contests.
She has made herself a more well-rounded player, leading the team in: scoring in 14 games, rebounding in 12, and assists in 14 contests.
Her success has helped the Stags to a first-place tie in the MAAC standings with their 16-1 conference mark while achieving a 22-4 overall record. Fairfield's success has been recognized around the country as the Stags have posted seven points in the recent Associated Press (AP) Top-25 poll while also sitting third in the College Insider Mid-Major Poll.
The five finalists will be announced in early March, with the winner announced around the Final Four.
